But did I realistically stand a chance against the Selfridges concession? I set myself up for failure with that one. Hey, despite my inadequacy as a responsible young adult (you win some, you lose some) I walked away with a really rather lovely new edition to my growing Nails Inc collection. #sorrynotsorry.
Duke Street is one of those perfect Spring shades - it's so understated and pretty. And in the process of writing this blog post, I also noticed that it's near-impossible to describe. It's a grey-y, purple-y, blue-y, white-ish shade. I can't quite make up my mind - I see a different colour every time I look down at my nails! The Nails Inc website describes it as 'Smoked Lilac' which is probably as close as you can get to pinning it down. However you chose to describe it, Duke Street is right up my street. See what I did there? Ha.
As its part of the NailKale collection, not only is Duke Street wonderfully pretty, it's perfecting too. The range claims to 'strengthen' and 'harden' the nails and its the formula makes this a stand-out varnish. My everyday clumsiness tests nail polishes to the extreme and NailKale tends to endure it pretty well. Like I wrote a mere month ago when I picked up Abbey Road, I don't really buy into the idea that nail polish is good for the wellbeing of your cuticles. Nails Inc claim that this range is 'deeply nourishing' which I find hard to believe - covering your nails in a distinctly flammable and toxic substance isn't going to do them any good. Of course, some are worse than others but if you truly care about nourishing your nail-beds then don't paint them! Easy.
In all honesty, I love the formula. It's so durable and my nails do feel stronger and less vulnerable to breaking. The great thing about Nails Inc is that they combine a unique offering of shades with cutting-edge formulas. The sight of a concession never fails to make me swoon. I'll always be an Essie girl at heart but Nails Inc are bringing it at the moment. Looks like I'll have to keep investing in my nail polish addiction. Sigh...
