This morning I woke up, stumbled half-asleep to the bathroom to brush my teeth, caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and was pleasantly surprised. My skin was glowing - and I know that's an exhausted cliché us bloggers use on a near daily basis, but for me, it's never been truer than in this instance!
When writing about my Skin Saviours last week, I raved about how a Cetaphil cleanser combined with an Australian Body Care blemish stick had cleared up my complexion. When I was breaking out during my final weeks of uni - I'm sure it had nothing to do with the near constant partying..! - this combo was great for tackling all the little niggling spots that I'd developed overnight. But once I'd fixed this problem, I didn't feel the Cetaphil cleanser was really 'strong' enough for everyday use - I wanted a product that made my skin feel refreshed and clean without being stripped of nutrients or left with that tell-tell cheap 'tacky' feeling. And here's where the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel comes into play.
This product has been floating round the blogosphere for an age - Vivianna Does Makeup, Lily Pebbles, Sammi of Beauty Crush, and Hannah Gale - have all sung this cleaner's praises so I thought it was about time I tried this miracle product out for myself. Like I wrote in my 'The Beauty Blogger Made Me Buy It' post a few months ago, I try it avoid blogger's hype (especially as the Renaissance Cleansing Mask didn't float my boat) and wait and see if these products are included in 'Favourites' posts down the line - obviously this cleanser made the cut.Retailing at a pretty hefty (by my standards at least) £28, this is definitely the most I've ever spent on my skin. And at first, it did feel like a quite standard cleanser. Trust me to expect instant results ha. The gel is a almost rosey orange shade which melts in your palm and turns into an oil when applied to the skin - it does give you a bit of tint when you're rubbing the product into your pores but it's worth it for the results. If you're not into scented products then chances are you're not going to love this heavily rose-scented cleanser. Personally, I love it - it makes the product that bit more luxurious and is actually quite a nice, refreshing scent to wake you up in the mornings or put you in a sleepy mood come bedtime.
It's been about a week and a half since I first purchased the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel and I've noticed such a difference in my complexion. Although my skincare saviours helped plenty with spots, my skin was still looking pretty dull and uneven. I feel like this product has given my complexion a new lease of life and things are looking rejuvenated and healthy. Gosh, you wouldn't think I was 20 from that sentence! But you know what I mean - we all have our bad skin moments. I've also noticed that this cleanser has really effected the lifespan of spots, it seems to nip them in the bud so they heal nicely.
To say I'm happy with my skin would be an understatement - this cleanser means I can go easier on the foundation and that can only be a good thing, right? It means I'm properly nourishing my skin and not caking too much product on top of it. A win-win, must be all those pumpkin enzymes. Whatever it is that makes this cleanser so damn special, I can't get enough. The Get Up and Glow is next on the wishlist, here's hoping payday comes early.
